Getting Gigs: How can we support each other?

Playing live is at the heart of musical practice, however getting gigs and booking tours has become difficult, in particular for upcoming artists. In the current environment of high prices for shows and touring, as well as people having less money to spend on shows, there is less readiness for risks across the music business. Sometimes, gigs can be cancelled at the last minute.

We would like to discuss together with you all, how we can support each other and still make gigs happen for all of us. How can we build booking structures in solidarity with each other?

We are organizing the evening with Jamila of the band Jamila & The Other Heroes, who are already practicing ways of booking in solidarity. We want to discuss different approaches, models and examples and maybe come up with new ideas as well.

The community evening will be a mixed format – starting off with a panel conversation, then a participatory exercise and conversation with everyone, and then networking, music and drinks.
